Faecal occult blood test (FOBT)
The faecal occult blood test (FOBT) detects small amounts of blood in your faeces which you would not normally see or be aware of. The presence of blood in stool may be a sign of cancer or one of the many non-cancer related causes of bleeding (e.g. hemorrhoids).
False negative
A test result that is read as negative when the disease is present.
